I just found out that the original version of Tetris for the Game Boy is available on the Switch, so guess what I’m doing for the rest of the week? nintendo.com/us/store/products…
in reply to kottke.org

There’s a ROM hack of it called “Rosy Retrospection” that adds some much needed modern features, and it’s become my favorite version of Tetris ever. Plays beautifully on Analogue Pocket. Can’t say enough nice things about it if you’re a fan of the original.

Wonderful comm by twitter.com/CompsyArt who's rocking that outfit. Can't promise it'll survive the night though

Interesting. I basically use Syncthing to get files around between my devices.

For devices of other people, it's gonna need more than syncing through the network both devices should be connected to, to be really considered an "Airdop alternative" IMHO

soooo how does app know that self-signed cert generated by another copy of app, and not by man-in-the-middle? Is there some kind of manual fingerprint checking?

They re-sent the “LOGIN” message an hour later, establishing a connection between UCLA and Stanford.

So technically the first three characters transmitted over what would become the internet were “LOL.”

One's sense of wonder extends to trying to imagine what the night sky might look like if one stood on a planet captive to a star in such a nebula?

Would 'Dark Skies' be an unfathomable concept to one or would it be a case that the closer one is to an extended object the less one can see it?

in reply to (moving) APOD

My main question, is the star close enough to the nebula that it is illuminating the nebula? And the answer is, yes, it is. The blue light in the nebula is from the star shown. Gamma Casseopia, the brightest star in Casseopeia about 3 light years away from IC59 and IC63.

Difficult to see with amateur scopes.
