There’s no need to depend on Google as your default search engine. Qwant and Ecosia are already viable alternatives, and together they’re building the European Search Index (Staan). It’s currently implemented in France and will roll out to additional European countries in 2026.

Appreciate @nolan's take on LLMs. Not too hot, not too cold. A well-balanced mama bear porridge take, if you will. I'm probably on a similar path in this journey, but Nolan is way more patient than me when you have to sit there and watch these things barf all over themselves.

How I use AI agents to write code
Yes, this is the umpteenth article about AI and coding that you’ve seen this year. Welcome to 2025. Some people really find LLMs distasteful, and if that’s you, then I would recommend t…Read the Tea Leaves
My biggest problem with AI is the negative effect it's having on human beings. I have no control over this, whether I use it or not, but that's what gives me the "ick" while using it.
I worked on LLMs at a previous company for a few years, before "AI" started becoming the thing it is now, and it was a really fun promising tool. But there are just so many ethical issues with modern AI -- the energy requirements, the use of AI to oppress, harm, and kill people, the growing divide in power, wealth, class, etc. I can't keep that shit out of my head every time I sit down and try to start learning how to use AI to be better or more effective at my job.
I wish I could see it as just a tool but I can't. And that sucks because I'm going to have a harder time benefiting from this thing that could potentially make my work easier or better. I know it's easier for people to just ignore the actual negative parts but I'm incapable of that. Sure, use the tool to make money so you can live and buy nice things, but don't forget about the cost.

I run mostly early mornings, because that's the only free time that I have. Here is my nutrition routine for various runs every week:
1. Easy runs: Mostly fasted, I only eat a small banana and about 500ml of water prior to session
2. Intervals/Tempo: Easy run + 250ml soluble carbs + 1 gel after the warm up (about 15-20 minutes in)
3. Long run: 1-2 hours before the workout, overnight oat or porridge. 500 ml water. 3-5 gels + 500ml water during the run.
What is your routine?
Interesting! I too prefer to run first thing and generally only have a cup of tea. I mostly don't eat until lunchtime time anyway, so if I run later I probably haven't eaten for a couple of hours.
I haven't run for much more than 2 hours and don't fuel even then. I find it hard to eat and run, but I know as my runs get longer, that I will need to fuel. But practising is difficult.
How do you practice fueling?
@drdcarpenter
I have to eat after the run, I feel very hungry. Maybe not immediately, but within 30 minutes. Carbbbbbbbs😂
For longer runs I eat at least 1 hour before the run but typically 2 hours before. And I usually don't drink water within 1 hour from the run to avoid going to the bathroom during the run. During the run I take at least 30 grams of gels every 30-45 minutes depending on how fast I run. And a sip of water every 20 minutes or so.

Fun fact - I took this image about 15min before I fell through the ice into the river below... That was the first of two times I would fall into a river in winter that year. I wouldn't recommend.
Thankfully, I was nearby my car and had a sleeping bag and dry clothes ready to change into! Paid off to be prepared.

I'm not sure what to expect to come out of this.
The only benefit I see is that it is now private and not beholden to shareholders.
Maybe finally this could lead to more Linux support. Simply having Gog Galaxy natively available on Linux would be a huge win in my opinion.
