Since you got me on here reminiscing and whatnot, I'll make a deal with you all.

I keep a small Patreon that funds my main project, Fipamo, which I've been working on for the last couple of years. I have big plans for it.

If we can get my funding to the first milestone (5k/month), I'll personally set up and run a new public instance because this will allow me to pay the team I want to help me run it.

So let's see what you got, fedi.

Mutual Crypto-Destruction Assured

I know people do not want to hear this but without the govt. control the abuse level is too high and it quickly gets out of control.

none of those things spell out your product name

i don't think your PR team is very good at acronyms

in reply to Q.U.I.N.N.

@icedquinn Hmmm, you do have a point. It seems we need to go back to the drawing table on that one.
in reply to Nextcloud 📱☁️💻

@icedquinn Clearly we need to align our principles with our name.
✨ Nepotism
✨ Egoism

I'm not sure this is going well 🙃

in reply to phenbach

@phenbach It's very simple.

400g flour
265g (ml) of water
5g instant dried yeast (or 3g if you're doing a long ferment)
10-12g salt.

Combine, knead, rest. Form in to balls (I find this produces 4 thin bases of approx 10-12" diameter suitable for my small pizza oven, or two thicker bases for the indoor regular oven).

in reply to David de Groot 𓆉

- My Swedish brain interpreted the picture as:

Four palt in vacuum package.

Sorry. Looks good.

In case you're not aware, the Affinity suite of applications (Photo, Designer, Publisher) are now at version 2.0 and they're having a 40% launch discount.

These are solid apps, for Windows and Mac and are very reasonably priced, with NO SUBSCRIPTION unlike another popular suite of apps in this space.

Hi Fediverse! 👋

We are very happy to be here! For those of us who don't know us, #PlosBiology is an #OpenAccess, #nonprofit scientific journal.

We are the PLOS flagship in the #LifeSciences. Our policies aim to depressurize de publication process & increase transparency. As all of PLOS, we're staunch promoters of #OpenScience.

Take a look at our current issue, with a gorgeous photo on the cover taken by one of our staff editors when she lived in #SouthAfrica

The clothes dryer stopped working, so I pulled it apart. Broken belly was the cause of the stoppage, but this idler pulley doesn’t look too great either, and the thumping we’d heard for a while was also explained (spring tensioner had let go).

Amazingly parts are available and I’ve ordered them.

Well, today I bid a fond farewell to my cream coloured cardigan. It has served me well. Sadly, at 9am it met its end when Moki found it unattended for a few moments on my office chair. Now that it has been thoroughly sucked and chewed on, it will meet its remaker at a rag trade recycle box. Goodbye cardigan, I will miss you!

How is Twitter verification doing? Oh it’s going great, fake accounts keep being accidentally verified like this spelling error account. It’s fake.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Working as designed. I think the intent is to burn it all down in spite. Possibly bankrupt to try to get out of the loan as a corner case? Hard to read a madman's mind

Research on Fedi

Are you on an academic/scholarly/sciencey Fedi server?

Does your server have a policy regarding researching its users?

This is Scholar's, for example:

scholar.social/terms#research

We should be having this conversation about user consent, expectations and instance policies *now* before you end up having to explain why your cool cool paper about Fedi is getting retracted

I've got a story to tell you: Storyteller has a release date. I'm not kidding. 23 March 2023. Steam and Switch.

I built this tool a year ago but I feel like Mastodon folks would like it

The "Weird Old Book Finder"

Type in a search query, and it'll find one randomly-chosen public-domain book that matches the query -- and present it for immediate reading: weirdoldbookfinder.net/

Why only one book? To prevent the paradox of choice! Just *start readin'*

Can't promise every book will be weird, but most are

A longer essay on how/why I developed it: debugger.medium.com/a-search-e…

This was a search for "mastodon"

Good news for Premium users: We have started working on 'different sender name per alias'. Soon you will be able to use your alias email addresses even better! 😀🤩

If you want to learn more about alias email addresses and how these can increase security online, check our blog:

Academics who are on GitHub, consider upvoting this excellent suggestion from @Edent (see link below).

The suggestion is to change the code used by ORCID's website to allow Mastodon verification links to be found. This would allow Mastodon users with an ORCID page to verify that they are the author of the publications listed on their ORCID page.

In 2022, I try again.

Welcome to the fediverse! 👋 It's super exciting to discover your sciomm project via this intro.

I encourage you to delete and redraft your post so you can add proper alt text to your image. Some on the fedi (I'm realizing that this is probably going to include me now) will not boost posts that do not have it.

You can follow @PleaseCaption for reminders.

I've always felt revenue share seems more complicated than it is as a topic, but I think my daily use of those terms & ideas made it hard for me to see how many devs really could use a 101 on the topic with examples, warnings, & values.

Staggering to think Zuckerberg looked at all the anger people expressed dealing with pandemic regulations and thought the boosts were because people actually loved not going anywhere or doing anything, and would only become deeper shut-ins once they had options.

gamesindustry.biz/meta-laying-…

in reply to Brendan Sinclair

And why didn't he realize it sooner, right? Like, people were actively going against safety recs before the first 6 mo were up to not be shut-ins, and 2.5 years later, he's like, "Whoopsidoodle! Guess I misunderstood people!" 11,000 people are going to suffer for that.
