Ubuntu Linux Announces New Kind Of Mini ISO?? #Linux #YouTube youtu.be/3zTCjT_5IFw
in reply to Brodie Robertson

FYI: you can already do this with netboot.xyz which also supports non ubuntu systems
in reply to attero

@attero I'm not surprised 3rd party tools exist, a lot of people wanted this feature back but this one is officially supported by the Ubuntu team
in reply to Brodie Robertson

So basically we'll get mini iso in order to download full iso? meh

Over the Cuando River basin (upper right corner in this image) a cloud free line traces the course of a river.

This line reflects a zone of cooler air directly above the river where cloud development is suppressed—at least on days with little wind.

Only a few more days in Denver. It's been fun 😀

Concurrently, I am also looking forward to being back home and in the forest again.

we have forests too! Just need to get up into the hills a little where the water flows.

it's a snow bop // reason jam

i sat down and did some music in reason for the first time in a very long time. i've always struggled with leaving space in music so i tried to consciously do that with this jam. it's just roughly mixed in reason with some aux reverb added to each track, so nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

it's a bop and it's currently snowing where i am, so that makes it a snow bop.

Echo, echo…

Hubble captured a “light echo” from the star V838 Mon. A sequence of images shows how a pulse of light from this star illuminated its surrounding clouds of material!

The classic trilemma goes: "Fast, cheap or good, pick any two." The Moderator's Trilemma goes, "Large, diverse userbase; centralized platforms; don't anger users - pick any two." The Moderator's Trilemma is introduced in "Moderating the Fediverse: Content Moderation on Distributed Social Media," a superb paper from @arozenshtein@mastodon.socialof U of Minnesota Law, forthcoming in the journal *Free Speech Law*, available as a prepub on SSRN:

in reply to Cory Doctorow

Long thread/39

While this law is incorrectly smeared as a gift to #BigTech, it is most needed by small services that can't possibly afford to monitor everything their users say:

techdirt.com/2020/06/23/hello-…

One more recommendation from Rozenshtein: treat interop mandates as an alternative (or adjunct) to antitrust enforcement.

39/

in reply to Cory Doctorow

Long thread/40

Competition agencies could weigh interoperability with the Fediverse by big platforms to determine whether to enforce against them, and enforcement orders could include mandates to interoperate with the Fediverse. This is a much faster remedy than break-ups, which Rozenshtein is dubious of because they are "legally risky" and "controversial."
