Extortion Attempts From Harvard AGAIN?

I recently returned from an incredible trip to Antarctica and I need everyone to look at my penguin photos.

Well this is disappointing.

Adobe Is Ruthlessly Killing Off Software That Animators Around The World Are Using Every Day

On a page morbidly-titled "End of Life FAQ", the company writes:

Adobe Animate will no longer be available to download for new customers, beginning March 1, 2026. Enterprise customers can access the application, download their content, and receive technical support until March 1, 2029. For all other customers, technical support, application access, and the ability to download content will be available until March 1, 2027.

in reply to Muse

Why is this happening again? (Yeah, Adobe is one of the worst customer exploiters out there.)
in reply to Muse

Adobe allowed Flash to become a home for any and every bad idea - like a VoIP telephone system!!!!. So, of course, Flash became a vehicle for bad people to disseminate bad things.

So, rather than fixing the very popular Flash, Adobe went far beyond merely stopping distributing it - rather Adobe issued one more release - that removed all traces of Flash from the user's computer. It was overt Vandalism.

I, personally, kinda dislike Apple's Final Cut Pro. It is much harder than what I used before (Sony, then Magix, Vegas.) I'd go to Adobe Premier - it is more in the style I like - but I hated Adobe's pay-through-the-nose-by-the-month model. But now that Apple is moving in that direction I am wondering whether I ought to switch or whether I ought to endure with my paid-up Final Cut Pro.

Hello brains trust!

My fairy wand as the Wattle Fairy Godmother is more of a walking stick. It is both cute and badass! Don't mess with fairies with big wands! hehehe!

For seven years the ceramic bird glued to the top has held steady. Last year it came off. I asked people what to use in order to re-attach it. A particular glue was suggested as being extra tough. It was a two-step thingo. It lasted one day at the festival for which I needed it, but by late afternoon, someone pointed out that my bird was hanging by a gooey thread. So, I removed her before she could fall off and possibly break.

Does anyone here have any ideas how I can attach a ceramic bird to a rubber cap on a wooden staff?

in reply to Muse

There are flexible cyanoacrylate glues, which might work better. The better type for that application would be a thick viscosity CA. It comes in thin, medium, and thick. Most little tubes are medium or thin. Thick is better for gap filling.
in reply to Muse

I have no help to offer - but we have been around Ocotillo plants all day - they are known as the Devil's Walking Stick, for good reason: very nasty, very long, very sharp, very strong thorns.

update their registration in person ahead of an election.

Good good. Let's have more people getting used to using the terminal... Then let's show them Arch linux.

i think that 99% of insults are pure projection.

the names people call you are the things they fear in themselves.

in reply to Shane

I don't know. I didn't think so until I read your post, and then I started to hope it. It is a nice idea, to think we can be nice to ourselves too.
in reply to Fionnáin

@ephemeral

ah, well...that is something i struggle with, tbh. being nice to myself, i mean. i'm learning, but there's a lot of unlearning to do first & a lot of letting go.

may we all find that harmony and that peace 😀

What would you rather have governing your Mastodon server?

  • Human admin with tech skills (93%, 60 votes)
  • Deterministic admin bot managing voting systems (4%, 3 votes)
  • LLM admin agent trained on a written constitution (1%, 1 vote)
64 voters. Poll end: in 9 hours

in reply to Nathan Schneider

my top of brain answer would be a combo - automation with human escalation path...
in reply to Laura James

@Laura I imagine that too. A supervisable LLM manages decision processes, etc., and there is a deterministic way to shut it off or pause it.
in reply to Nathan Schneider

Depends on the LLM. If it can be trusted, then the last option. Otherwise, the middle option.

What are y'all's favorite British authors? I need to find some to research for my next English project. I don't really have a preference on work, I'm open to everything! Right now the only one I plan on doing some research on is Virginia Woolf (my fav)
in reply to noah christopher

Richard Adams, George Eliot, Mary Shelley, John Milton, Arthur Conan Doyle, Tolkien, Samuel Butler, Jonathan Swift, George Orwell, Douglas Adams, Samuel Johnson, Aldous Huxley

If you read through Woolfe's Books & Portraits, you'll get a taste of a lot of really interesting english writers(although some are american). I discovered a bunch through that little book.

Thanks to everyone who came to visit our stand at #fosdem . We showed off a couple of new devices this year like the PineVoice home assistant speaker and the new PineTime Pro prototype. A lot of the discussion topics we had at FOSDEM will make it into a new community blog post. Including what this year will look like considering DRAM prices.

We had a lot of fun meeting you all, safe travels everyone!

@k8ie The firmware isn't ready to ship to the factory yet. Also the PineVox is now PineVoice.

This guy named Ben Palmer made an "Immigration tip line" and people call it thinking he's ICE.

He records them and shares it with the world.

What do people sound like when reporting their neighbors, coworkers, students? Are they confident they are doing a righteous good thing?

Witness the banality of evil in these sheepish suburban voices.
