Why Ubuntu Gets So Much Hate in the Linux Community
Ubuntu may not be perfect, but the amount of hate it receives from Linux users is often exaggerated. Here's why the criticism deserves a rethink.Roland Taylor (It's FOSS)

b) regulate all social networks and would enforce the laws
c) would heavily fine those tech-bros for violating existing laws.
d) teach children to think critically about the internet and social media. Why in school? Because a lot of grown-ups seem to lack the common sense be able to do this at home.
This is Australia's entry into Eurovision this year. It's a corker!
Delta Goodrem is a well loved pop star here. She has done her research and written a song that has a solid Eurovision vibe. All she has to do is get into the top ten singers of Eurovision and Australia can stay in the competition! I was surprised that our singer GoJo didn't do better last year. I thought he was terrific! But he was also funny--you have my love if you are also funny!

This poses some problems since it's going in the kernelspace. I think at this point we should have parallel kernels running like virtualisations or like this one :
github.com/multikernel
(The Linux, kerf etc repos in this)
As like always the community will come up with a method to solve this I hope 💪🔥
But there's an OS which have a feature to potentially solve these. It's NixOS.

on @Mastodon 's new Share button, the Mastodon API and protocol ownership

Link type posts by Lemmy / piefed do not federate the url, trying to share cross platform is bad.
Maybe a federated network should spend some time making things work
If everyone now starts incorporating features into their own software that are incompatible with other platforms, this contradicts the idea of a federated network.

in reply to It's FOSS • • •many reasons to hate Ubuntu, hope the list fits in a tooth:
Centralized proprietary Snap ecosystem forced on users
replaced gnu utils with Rust
Amazon ads, sent search queries to Amazon (2012ish)
their license gives extra rights over contributions
Building Unity vs collaborating with GNOME
Creating Mir instead of using Wayland
Forcing Snap versions of apps like Firefox
Killing projects like Ubuntu Touch and Unity after pushing them heavily
Telemetry added in Ubuntu 18.04

in reply to It's FOSS • • •I don't hate Ubuntu but the last LTS came with some issues that were very frustrating for me and which would have vexxed someone with less experience. Three that spring to mind:
-NTFS driver that doesn't work (why can I suddenly not access my NTFS drives!?)
-appimages restricted (why can I not open these programs that I rely on!?)
-GTK version not being backwards compatible (why do the GUIs of these plugins I rely on suddenly not work!?)
