#Gnome is home. #kde always felt so beta and shabby (I know it's probably better today) so I stuck to Gnome.
Currently trying something new with #niri - feels really good, but you immediately feel the advantages of a full-blown desktop env (lots of manual configuring)

Yes, we need a lightweight alternative to #LibreOffice that integrates with the #Gnome desktop. However, we don't need a new office core, just a slim UI. #LibreOfficeKit is slim and extremely powerful. All documents supported by @libreoffice are displayed correctly immediately. @CollaboraOffice Onlline, iOS, Android uses it. @tdforg has already developed a prototype ā€˜#GTK Tiled Viewer’ dev.blog.documentfoundation.or…. I hope someone is interested in taking on the new @gnome office.

First thing first: remove #gnome, install #KDEplasma šŸ˜Ž

Linux Mint - and not because of any deficiency on its part. LM is a really great X11 based distro. I wanted GNOME, and to sink my teeth into Wayland.

for anyone who was in any of the #GNOME #matrix rooms a week or so ago... the flatpak version of element keeps its cache at ~/.var/app/im.riot.Riot/config/Element/Cache/Cache_Data/. you can use something like wipe to securely erase it.

EDIT: wipe and shred and co. won't work on an SSD. use something like blkdiscard instead.

if there are any #GNOME designers/artists (gnomes? gnome heads? gnomish sourcerers? gnaphic gnesigners?) seeing this, does it comply with the HIG in your opinion? what would you suggest changing if not?

the cheesecrater icon uses the standard rustacean image, which doesn't have that smooth, rounded look the HIG usually suggests, but i lack the skill to make a "blobby" version of ferris. :ferris_og:

the crates browser, with its triple-pane layout (third screenshot), is the most complicated of them, but it's based on the design of the crates.io website, which displays the readme alongside a right-aligned "metadata" pane.

(also: either it's very hard to write descriptive alt text for UI design screenshots, or i am very bad at it. possibly both.)

Success! The #maclinuxbuild lives. I’m working out some kinks with the GPU but so far just the normal #linux things to work out. I decided to go with @ubuntu after testing a few different distros it had the best out of the box support. Loving this system report with 24 threadsšŸ˜ #foss #floss #opensource #ubuntu #gnome @itsfoss #gpu #cpu #photo #photography

#Fedora #GNOME #Wayland - which is the default Fedora desktop.

Very clean, non-distracting and easy to use.

Successfully installed and recommended this year: Universal Blue Atomic Releases based on Fedora

Flatpak and brew all the way, always up to date and indestructable

#KDE > #aurora > getaurora.dev/
#gnome > #bluefin > projectbluefin.io/

although I don't use #gnome , I always support projects which offer a #gui for users to help them configure #settings simply sand easily šŸ‘.

Time for a memory upgrade on the #maclinuxbuild project. Per suggestion from @itsfoss I’m going to adding in 64GB of #ram Next up I’ll be eyeing a GPU for this. And which GPU really depends on what I’ll ultimately be using this for. More to come soon. #foss #floss #slowtech #opensource #oldtech #oldtechrescue #linux #kde #gnome #photo #photography

Get the disk usage of a folder in GNOME. In the Nautilus file manager, right-click on a folder and select Open āž Open With.

Now, from the list of apps, select ā€œDisk Usage Analyzerā€ and click ā€œOpenā€. This will open a storage analysis for that folder.
