At the #OMN Our 5 instances were funded by the remaining 5k of the tech fund from visionontv project grant for the last ten years, this pot of money is now beyond empty. It was never self funded... https://opencollective.com/open-media-network This is normal issue... Have been applying for #FOSS Dev funding for #OMN last 3-4 years to cross fund the instances but nothing, #blocking, as most of this funding is poured down the drain.
The instances have been running to seed the #OMN tech Dev and provide hands on #ux and backend mod knowledge for these Dev projects.
The is nothing happening to fix this #FOSS mess, only the #fashionista stuff is sustainable and this soon disappears when it goes out of fashion.
#openweb reboot is limited by the people working on it. We obviously need to do better and we can if we choose too #OMN

Pouring money down the drain, because the majority of the problems in the #Fediverse and the #openweb are social not technical – if they only fund technical parts of this culture they are feeding the “problem” and this problem is going to pour the resources down the drain.

Am increasingly seeing this #blocking as a culture of fear, or more real as a culture of fear pushed as power politics.
Am thinking meany people will be confused and likely mix signal with noise on this subject.

#mainstreaming people are deluded fools in the era of #climatechas and if they are aggressive to the point of #blocking then they are nasty self-destructive deluded fools who are creating mess and #blocking the change that is needed.
@raccoon so we ignore this mess and push the content across with a bridge - we make the protocols into "dumb pipes" this is the path of the #OMN
I understand this is the best of the BAD solutions, but it's easy and most impotently "permissionless" so we can seed diversity. From this we might get somewhere not #blocking
the development of #mastodon has been captured by the #NGO crew for a while now - this is a normal outcome of a good #openweb project going #mainstreaming
The solution to this normal issue is to shift focus to new potential outreach project to balance this shift.
Attacking and PUSHING back HARD at this change has limited and often negative effects.

I've only had one minor disagreement (in which I got called a #bigot because I was using the platform's #blocking feature to get rid of certain topics from my stream), but am genuinely super sorry to hear that @shengokai had such a rubbish experience. #SocialMedia is only as good as the people on it, and nowhere is going to be perfect (but it's up to us to support every space becoming open, welcoming & fabulous for everyone).
I'm also really grateful to the article for highlighting what @ntnsndr is up to. If I ever feel like I need a change from the most fabulous & excellent server I'm currently on, social.coop is worth checking out!
Final point, personally, I LOVE Mastodon. It's like the other platforms were back in the day before scale and algorithms got in the way. Interactions are more frequent, content is more interesting, and I'm inspired by the opportunities to rebuild a #SocMed environment around me & what I want, not what others think I should have. I genuinely can't imagine going back to #Birdsite and would like to say a huge #ThankYou to everyone who is part of the fediverse. xoxo

I have been pointing to http://visionon.tv videos as examples of affective messy activism. The problem is with people being deluded that they don't 'like" what they see, affective activism is messy auta #CONTROL and human. What they wont looks like controlled machine like outcomes, this never works, in any way, and is thus simply and obviously #BLOCKING adding to the mess.

OK I asked yesterday for some clarification on this proposal but as nothing has happened I edited in some questions, can we address them please in a polite and constructive way.
An issue central to the #openweb Social value is always from groups of people, and yes it's tempting to play semantic games by saying groups are made of individuals, but that would be pointless #blocking so let's not.
