This little guy hit a window while I was outside gardening. They were stunned for quite a while - I sat quietly nearby - but eventually flew off to join the rest of the family. As they recovered they perched on a fallen twig.
Short of plastering stickers and sun catchers over every square inch of the windows I don’t know how to stop birds flying into them.

Five years ago, all that was on site was a lot of low-lying brush and thousands of trees in deer-guards.

Me and two others planted a stand of 200 birch and rowan trees out on the moor in 2021.
It rained sideways, hailed, and snowed, and we carried heavy equipment over very rough terrain. We named it Varda Wood, after Agnés Varda. The trees were whips, inside tubes, no more than half a metre tall.
Now some of them are taller than I am.

Following on from that, NIST guidelines recommend:
❌ DON'T enforce complexity (upper, lower, numbers, special chars)
✅ Instead, DO require 8 chars minimum, and up to 64 at least
✅ Also, allow _any_ characters (space, apostrophe, etc.)
❌ DON'T force users to change passwords regularly; then they just add incrementing numbers at the end and it doesn't help security
✅ But DO block passwords/patterns (qwerty, asdfasdf, etc.)

As tanks and soldiers paraded through the streets of Washington on Saturday, several million people around the country turned out to protest against the excesses of Donald Trump’s administration.
The protests, dubbed “No Kings”, rook place at about 2,100 sites nationwide, from big cities to small towns. A coalition of more than 100 groups joined together to plan the protests, which are committed to a principle of nonviolence...
No Kings organizers estimated the day’s events have drawn millions of people, with some hundreds still under way in all 50 states and to some cities abroad. These included over 200,000 in New York and over 100,000 in Philadelphia, plus some small towns with sizable crowds for their populations, including the town of Pentwater, Michigan, which saw 400 people join the protest in their 800-person town, the No Kings coalition said.
