After 15 months of hard work, my dad has finished this impressive model of Minas Tirith! It is 1.4 m high and entirely hand-made out of wood. One of the most time-consuming parts was manually engraving the bricks on all walls and buildings, but this was key to properly convey the huge size of the city. Everything was painted by hand, adding some wear and tear. For a behind-the-scenes look at how he built this check out this video: youtube.com/watch?v=Z1Ywlc8ojj…

I am currently trying to for the problems with git.friendi.ca that occur more and more frequently by moving this setup to a new server.
I will need a bit more time to accomplish this.

New, by @lorenzofb and me: We just published TechCrunch's annual jealousy list of cybersecurity stories that we *didn’t* publish but wish we had. This is the very best cybersecurity reporting from our friends at competing publications.

But I'm also incredibly proud of the work we did at TechCrunch this year, breaking new ground and stories, (and occasionally executives' hearts). Here's a few stories we covered that I also want to highlight:
1/4) @lorenzofb broke news linking the 'Careto' hacking group, which targeted Cuban state institutions, to the Spanish government. Absolutely incredibly reporting that took years to piece this story together.

Hungarian astronaut Tibor Kapu created an accurate physical model of a soft shape while on board the International Space Station.
Oxford's Mathematical Institute reports about the development of shapes that can physically exist only in zero gravity. These "soft shapes" lack corners and are partially available as biological tissues. But recreating them in practice against the pull of gravity is challenging. The fluid dynamics require micro or zero gravity.

We have a huge homeless population here.
I divide them into three rough classes.
- People who have been hit with circumstances that destabilize their lives. These people need stability to recover and a chance (or two or three). We all benefit by helping these people.
- People who have become addicted to drugs. It is unclear to me how to help these people.
- People who are trying to live the Jack Kerouac lifestyle. We have many of these around here - at least one is a $millionaire trust fund kid. (I pejoratively identify these people as the ones carrying nice guitars - Gibson or Martin, or better - on their Santa Cruz [an expensive brand of] mountain bikes I don't want to help these people.

Thanks. Can you also write a guide on how to use the new desktop mode as well as how to run Linux GUI applications in terminal on Android 16.
The innovation I'm looking forward to is the desktop mode and running Linux apps on Android. I'm tired of AI, shiny Material or Glass, and even faster chip, etc.
