Someone asked me why I don't implement markdown support to the wiki engine instead of painstakingly typing down html tags. I think the reason that I never felt like markdown was worth it, was that the editor I use makes writing html somewhat frictionless, maybe if I lost this, I'd consider adding a parser.
Markdown support adds a thick layer of junk to a SSG, maybe the trick is just to improve html support to the editor you use, and keep the site simplier.

markdown isn't a good idea (imho) because it will pulls many complexities starting from dialects and once you want to write slightly more complex piece than what markdown can do, you must embed html in markdown… :<
@hypha it's definitely designed to be structuraly edited, being able to move in and out of tags to modify the structure sounds like the right approach.
markdown is a total mess... no standard, low semantic meaning ... html, xml, org-mode are all so much better and more expressive. yes, html is "more typing" (maybe), but then you have an actual readable structured document.
I maintain that Markdown is a downstream product of software distribution and reuse being difficult. It makes sense in a world where the user of the data will not have ready use of the tools used to author it, or full fidelity viewers. It's sort of the XLS of the software world.
How does that wiki engine handle links to pages inside a same wiki? I can see how writing plain HTML instead of Markdown makes sense in a SSG context, however the [[autocomplete]] feature of Obsidian has been the killer feature that helped me write my own wiki easily. I'd love to see something like that in more opensource editors
i wrote my whole site in HTML directly inside emacs with just a couple custom macros to insert <p> tag pairs and things of that nature quickly. Although I also have some CSS. But I wrote the CSS in emacs as well, and the site explicitly was designed to still be totally readable without CSS.

Among these compounds, researchers identified putrescine, an organic chemical not previously recognised as part of the Corpse Flower’s scent profile.

Protecting the rainforests of Sumatra from deforestation caused by palm oil cultivation and mining is critical for the survival of this extraordinary species. Und ja, diese Antwort wurde von einem friendica Profile erstellt. Sich diese auf einem Desktop auf dem Originalserver anzusehen bedeutet ein Idee vom Layout einer Alternative im fediVerse zu bekommen.

Selecting any of the images, the single image page view shows up. Selecting an image in the single page view displays only the image. The access to images can be restricted for specific (friendica) users or circles of (friendica) users. That means that images can be uploaded, for example for internal discussion and observations, and later on the restriction can be lifted and that image can be used with access for the general public.

The access inside the fediVerse can be restricted on a server level so that bad actors can be blocked. It is also possible to allow only communication with specific servers. That would mean to create a exclusive network of federated communication. Blocking lists can be imported and exported as you can see for example on this server.

@Awet Tesfaiesus, MdB Hier noch mal eine vereinfachtere Ansicht des Schemas über Profile und Plattformen im fediVerse des Internets und wie dezentrale Kommunikationsprotokolle ineinander greifen.
Wenn sie den Profilnamen in der Grafik mit @AwetTesfaiesus ersetzen, den domain Namen der castoPod Instanz mit podcast.gruene.de, den peerTube domain Namen mit tube.gruene-kassel.de, die mastodon Instanz URL mit gruene.social und den domain Namen des friendica node mit sozial.awet-tesfaiesus.de bekommen sie in ungefähr einen Eindruck was unsere dezentralen Strukturen bedeuten und ermöglichen.

Beide Veröffentlichungen boosted sie daraufhin von ihrem MdB Profil @AwetTesfaiesus@gruene.social aus. Und zu guter letzt favorisiert sie alle diese Beiträge mit ihrem ureigenen Profil @AwetTesfaiesus@sozial.awet-tesfaiesus.de, was u.a. dazu führt das sie Kopien von all diesem Material auf ihrer eigenen Instanz für sich privat abgespeichert hat.
Wenn sie dann, zum Beispiel am Jahresende ein kleines Grußwort zu Weihnachten von eben diesem persönlichen eigenen Profil in unseren sozialen Netzwerken mit im Text eingebetteten Links, die auf jene Mediendateien verweisen versendet, bekommen Kontakte von ihr überall auf der Welt, auf Instanzen in Kenia, Eritrea oder Australien, ebenso wie eventuell per Email oder RSS feed, ein Lebenszeichen ihres Kontaktes Awet in Deutschland. Eine Information die dezentral auf vielen unterschiedlichen Servern im Internet, praktisch 100% Zensurresistent abgespeichert wird.

I grew these mushrooms in a cloth grow bag using only wood chips as the substrate. I thought that they would fruit in the top, but instead they actually fruited through the fabric in the bottom.
They struggled a bit due to the low humidity indoors, but I spray them with water several times a day, so I will be able to harvest something.
@MCDuncanLab cool! Plastic bag is the way to go. I was trying to grow these without plastic but it's hard. These are a white oyster variety I got from a local grower. I already had one batch from a pot, and they were quite tasty! Blue oyster is next...
Excellent harvest! The growth direction may seem weird, but fungi mycelia are pretty much of tridimensional growth (if you have ever seen a mold snow-ball in a liquid you can get the idea), so they will probably have grown towards the zone they detected was closer to circulating air (AFAIK, fungi do not have a lot of gravi- or phototropism).
the process of creating those notes probably already help a lot to remember stuff without even looking at them. Writing stuff on paper also writes the stuff into the brain somehow.
