Writing out a conversation Iโ€™ve been having a lot at this conference:

Things in US science are far, far worse than people know.

Far worse than even other scientists know.

โš ๏ธ

I am currently wrestling with an entity and world state system. I have a problem because I would want to be able to do `if node is Entity: stuff()`, but root nodes of various scenes (like a game character, and interactive prop etc) uses a node type like CharacterBody3D which properties I want to access, but also extend Entity

Tired of bloated terminals? Foot is a lightweight Wayland-native terminal emulator that stays fast. โšก

in reply to It's FOSS

Performance is a promising feature, but IMO it takes a feature-rich environment to get a *foot* in the door of this market. (Pardon the pun.) I am too addicted to stuff like cash/tmux integration, and a lot of Linux terms are just missing the good stuff.

Sad... dystopian outlooks, as it seems too many peoples moral.ethical brainwaves are geared to actually embrace is more than disturbing.
Is the Universe adjusting brainwaves so we cycle through peace and war, destroy and rebuild?

My team at Frontier is hiring! Looking for a mid-level DevOps Engineer. Must be within commute distance of Cambridge (or willing to relocate).

jobs.eu.lever.co/frontier/478eโ€ฆ

FWIW the job title can be a bit misleading as we're not looking for people with a purely AWS/Azure/GCP cloud devops backround. This kind of DevOps needs people with relevant experience to building, testing and shipping games at scale.

Spoke to the Guardian about the idea of quitting LLMs for climate: -โ€œI see this all as very much part of the tactic of trying to embed these systems into society and instil dependency in a fashion similar to the growth of single-use plastics in the 1970s.โ€ www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Healthwatch offers (yet) more evidence of the emergence (actually, the engineering) of a two tier health system, with increased use of the private secure (by those who can afford it) to avoid long(er) waiting lists for treatment.

As I've note before, successive health secretaries (and Govt.s) have engineered a crisis in the NHS with the intent of expanding the cherry-picking of treatment by private providers.

This isn't a policy bug, its a feature!

Pretty awesome that Taiwan has this measure to freeze gas and diesel costs, with a government oil company footing much of the bill as it assesses the situation. Further, the government may require Taipower to absorb electricity costs, meaning it may have to forgo much of last yearโ€™s profit. h/t @kerim taiwannews.com.tw/news/6320933

I don't divide a year into four seasons, instead I notice the change through blossoms. The blossoms don't follow a chronological order. They overlap, reverse, even repeat sometimes. Each mountainside has its own climate. The rocks can be burning hot on one side and covered with snow on the other. Here are the blossoms of a climate that's warming up:
1. Crocus time is cool and crispy. The blossoms can poke directly from the snow.
2. Primroses come after crocuses, although sometimes they meet each other on the same slope. Then crocuses dissolve while primroses stay. The air is warmer and it smells of soil and plants.
3. Anemone time means you can be confident it's warm on their field. You might need sunscreen, and even look for shadows to chill in.
4. Hyacinths arrive when you start keeping the solar zenith in mind, and making sure you've got your cap on. The bees are everywhere, and the air is so sweet that you want to eat it with a spoon.
