Hey #believeinfilm friends,

Looks like Kodak will be pausing film production this November to make some serious factory upgrades!

But no shortage of dudes proclaiming that film is just a fad on socials expected in 2025.

Where do jets go when they no longer fly? What happens to shipping containers when they aren’t useful anymore for cargo? The answer is invisible to most of us, but for Cássio Vasconcellos, abandoned trains, planes, and automobiles are far from forgotten.

Photographing and stitching together composites, Vasconcellos condenses details of urban infrastructure like highways and parking lots into sprawling, all-over compositions.

Germany Autumn Set

A set of four photos taken way back when in the southwest-German countryside. The area where I lived at that time had some delightful simple autumn offerings, especially when viewed at the right time in the afternoon.

Vivian Maier was a nanny who, for decades, took photos she never expected anyone to see. She rarely looked at them herself, often didn't develop the negatives and kept the pictures in storage lockers that she eventually stopped paying for so the contents were auctioned off. @Smithsonianmag tells the story of how she came to be considered one of the great street photographers of the 20th century, with a major retrospective on view now at Fotografiska New York.

Hey #believeinfilm friends,

Did you see the northern lights yesterday?

A solar storm made the aurora borealis visible in Vancouver, where I live, and even in places south of that, like Toronto. I photographed the lights on film with my Canon F-1 and a roll of CineStill 800T.

More hi-res photos: https://www.analog.cafe/r/shooting-northern-lights-on-film-dl4d

Not bringing a digital camera was one of the best decisions of the night. Film is the best way to capture this event.

I know it's fall but I looked back at some midsummer photos of this Anna's Hummingbird working some beebalm flowers in our front yard. Well, the flowers have all faded now, but the Anna's stay with us all winter. #photography #nature #naturephotography #birdphotography #hummingbird #birds #flowers

#PPOD: This stunning photograph captures the most violent moment during an eruption of the Calbuco volcano in Chile. Volcanic lightning occurs in the plumes of eruptions when volcanic ash particles collide, generating static electricity. Additionally, water vapor in the plume condenses and freezes as it rises, adding ice to the mix. And voila! The eventual electrical discharge causes lightning.
