After a star goes supernova, its leftover core can rotate quickly, blasting pulses of radiation at intervals typically ranging from milliseconds to seconds. Orbiting pulsar planets would be hellish wastelands. We💚 them. exoplanets.nasa.gov/resources/…

* Isopods have 7 pairs of legs all pretty much the same length.
* 74** logic gates have ... 7 pairs of legs all the same length!
Coincidence? I think not!
Clearly, each isopod contains 4 logic gates. This Armadillidium vulgare has 4 AND gates. Don't forget to connect power & ground legs & use pull-down resistors on inputs.
(best practice is to simply ask the rollie to position itself in your circuit.)
Like most natural systems. they use micro-voltages, don't use standard 5V power sources.
Look on the bright side! No, really – see how the left side appears brighter in color?

Submission for summer #FediverseJam is in just under the wire as I'm being hit by a thunderstorm!
It's just a little demo to show our progress, way short of a real game: hrlapv8kju8oiulh.itch.io/w0rmh…
Now I'm going to turn all my electronics off and ride out the storm, byeeeeeee!
Just created my first #PuzzleScript game, and submitted to the Summer Fediverse Jam! Much thanks to @Ategon for hosting!
Check out Flower Eater here: russmatney.itch.io/flower-eate…
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Sorry if the difficulty ramps up too quickly - if 4 is a pain, 5/6/7 might not be very fun.
Puzzle 4 looks like the attached one?
The trick is to find a path to the red flower that hits ALL the flowers. For this one I know there are at least two paths, but a strategy might be to work it out backwards (from the red one first).
Going immediately backwards is not allowed, but you can jump over already 'eaten' flowers on the path.

In the U.S., recent annual estimates of bird deaths due to:
Cats = 2.4 billion bird deaths
Collisions from building glass = 600 million bird deaths
Land wind turbines = <200,000 bird deaths
Some politicians claim wind turbines “kill all the birds.”
But… they’re not really worried about birds. Rather, they prefer we stick with oil & gas over renewable #energy.

White balancing a camera isn't difficult, but you have to pick a white surface.
One of the best sets I ever saw was the Edward Gorey set for a stage production of Dracula – everything was a Gorey drawing, but there was always one single red item in each scene. It allowed the actors to tell the story (including the late Jeremy Brett as Count Dracula).
I am sick and tired of the never-ending repetition of low trombones (often taken from the same original source) being used to say “scary part”.

Children are being hit hard this flu season. Some experts are calling for more antiviral use
"By early July there had been almost 150,000 cases of influenza notified to regulators in the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System, with 32,000 notifications in the most recent fortnight — suggesting cases are peaking.
"The numbers are on par with previous years but this year the flu is affecting young people and children the most.
"Federal health department data shows the highest numbers of flu cases nationally have been among those aged five to nine, under fours and tweens aged 10 to 14.
"There have been at least two deaths in that group, including an 11-year-old Queensland girl and a teenager from the New South Wales Central Coast.
"Despite dire warnings, vaccination rates have remained stubbornly flat, with only a third of the population vaccinated against the flu and the lowest rates among children aged five to 14."

But if you wrote it in 2000 then it turns out it was a timely contemporary observation! Except the next letter turned out to be "i". 😩

Heh, it was just about 22 years ago when I burned a bunch of a VP’s patience convincing him that naming a product “XploreRadio” was corny, not cool. He came back and proudly announced to me that my argument had won the day with the executive team, and the name would instead be…“eXploreRadio!” Wasn’t that great??
My poker face skills were severely tested.
