At the #OMN Our 5 instances were funded by the remaining 5k of the tech fund from visionontv project grant for the last ten years, this pot of money is now beyond empty. It was never self funded... https://opencollective.com/open-media-network This is normal issue... Have been applying for #FOSS Dev funding for #OMN last 3-4 years to cross fund the instances but nothing, #blocking, as most of this funding is poured down the drain.

The instances have been running to seed the #OMN tech Dev and provide hands on #ux and backend mod knowledge for these Dev projects.

The is nothing happening to fix this #FOSS mess, only the #fashionista stuff is sustainable and this soon disappears when it goes out of fashion.

#openweb reboot is limited by the people working on it. We obviously need to do better and we can if we choose too #OMN

@rooftopaxx we are going to be thinking about shutting down all #OMN instances as the is currently no money to pay the hosting, and outreaching is not working without a LOT of help.

The #DIY coding project is not actually working anyway, the has been no movement beyond chatter on the tech side of #OMN for the last few years, and the #fedivers stuff was set up to seed this dev.

Any ideas for a good path, happy to pass the instances on to a new responsible crew.

The #OMN instances are based on the history of "offline" activism. #Activism is the crusty protest camp and #campaign, a #NGO office. #OMN value is that we "bridge" the two and keep this bridge in place

So protest camps have their share of "nutter" mess and the #NGO offices have the power politics mess. Let's try and get the two to compost this messy aproch to social change and challenge.

Yes at the moment as it's a #OMN based on the #4opens you have very low barrier to running or even developing an instance this is where the value is.

Adding security generally makes a HUGE barriers to Dev and #DIY running an instance.

The #geekproblem has no idea of the damage they do when pushing there "common sense". This creates a signal to noise issue that has been blocking alt for 20 years.
