Hooraay for a developer actually implementing couch-coop.
Although SciFi Horror isn't the right choice for my family (yet).

I like that it LOOKS like the headache that it is. I love my little server but ill be the first to admit you better be ready for your brain to look like that 🤣

I suspect we will have two webs: the version controlled by big tech, and a much, much smaller version that is largely reputation based and is shaped by things analogous to webrings with discovery via resource lists.

Big potential plus: the corporate web will be a blend of saccharine content, ragebait, and dark patterns - so a subset of people will use it less and get outside more.

A systemd fork has set out as a fu*k you to age verification.
Good
Better: use a NO Systemd distro.

antiX-26 comes with runit, sysVinit, dinit,
s6-rc and s6-66

s6-rc my favorite, boot and shutdown very fast and reliable.

in reply to It's FOSS

yeah great, I think the correct response however is to start the arduous process of migrating away from systemd-only distros, because this most recent debacle has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that it is in fact cancer

I use OnlyOffice. I'm not a big fan of LibreOffice. That said, I am glad LibreOffice exists, and users should donate if they use it regularly.
in reply to It's FOSS

I think this is a good addition, as long as it doesn't popup every single time you open LibreOffice.

This AI Coding Problem Is Starting To Look A Lot Like Y2K... | Microslop Chronicles

Sam Altman stood in front of infrastructure investors and said AI would be "a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter." The same week, Amazon had a six-hour shopping outage tied to AI-generated code, after laying off 30,000 engineers and mandating 80% AI tool usage across their dev teams. And Anthropic, the company that makes Claude, published a study showing AI coding tools cut developer comprehension by 17% with no meaningful speed gain. _This is what the "intelligence as a utility" vision looks like when it hits a real engineering workforce.

who in the fuck set up fediverse.org?

"Fediverse Consortium is organized as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) on the Ethereum blockchain"

in reply to wakest likes your bugs ⁂

I guess someone saw the domain was available and saw an opportunity to do a crypto scam. What can one even do if "fediverse" isn't a trademark?
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron I sorta don't think this is even a crypto scam, I think it might actually be someone here who thinks they are "trying to help" and are very misguided

A man used LLMs to generate hundreds of thousands of "songs", then used bots to stream them billions of times, to collect $8m in royalties. justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/north… Is there a better metaphor for late-stage capitalism than burning resources to make songs that are never listened to, then steaming them to robots that will never hear them, ad infinitum?

What does it take to run a Tor relay at a university?

Want to bring Tor to your campus? Check out @eff 's Tor University Challenge encouraging universities to run Tor relays on their networks to support the Tor network and give students hands-on experience with real-world digital public infrastructure. New music from Dead Can Dance.

"‘Our Day Will Come’ is dedicated to the shared national aspirations of the Irish and Palestinian peoples. The song title is a direct reference and translation of the traditional Irish Republican slogan Tiocfaidh ár lá.  A slogan that embodies the aspirations of the Irish people in their shared vision of a united Ireland free from foreign colonial rule. In light of the appalling ongoing genocide in Palestine the solidarity between our two peoples has never been stronger."

in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

Haha this is so cool. Been loving their music since I was 12. I saw them in Paris a few years ago, it was peaceful and powerful at the same time.
This track is something else though. New music from the band didn't move me like this for a while.

Classic haunted mansion puzzle adventure The 7th Guest is getting a full remake gamingonlinux.com/2026/03/clas…

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

The publisher did a very poor job describing it but the remake came out a year or two ago, this will just be the version that doesn't require a VR headset
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

about time they made a non-VR version of it.

I grew up with the originals and did some behind the scenes stuff for The 13th Doll: A Fan Game of The 7th Guest.

The VR remake is VERY good and one of the puzzle designers Paul Van der Meers actually did puzzle work on The 13th Doll
