Someone asked if ostracism in my shortfilm fits #solarpunk I borrow from pre-colonial cultures to imagine how communities will handle crime yet there's no government/police using violence/jail in the name of justice.They will use rituals of reconciliation/restorative justice, but if a person is unrepentant/unwilling to pay compensatory fines, they get banished. Remote work and study is an effective way to reduce the spread of contagious infections, but not everyone has access to reliable networks. We want to shine a spotlight on offline-first software which allows people to synchronize data when they're connected to the internet, and to continue interacting with it when they're not.
We're interested in hearing about applications that support intermittent connectivity. Tell us about your success stories with the use of such software, or the failure cases with online-only apps that motivated your interest.

They're interested in building out a seed library as well!!!
YAYAYAYAY!!!!!!
I'm developing some basic classes on how to do low-budget, simple, indoor (in any space) hydroponics. I'm also building out some starter kits to give away.
I'll see if the local library would like me to give these courses and kits when the seed library gets built as a way to promote it and get word out to the local community.

Alright, sent an email to the head of my local library about setting up a seed library there.
Seeds libraries are places you can go and "check out" seeds. Grow the seeds. Let one of the grown plants go to seed. Harvest the seeds. Then "return" the seeds back to the seed library!

My local library built the seed library!
The local Master Gardeners provided a lot of the intitial seeds (oh my gosh we are stocked!!!). They used an old card catalogue to store them. Today's the kickoff!
The idea is you "check out seeds" from the library, plant/grow/harvest, let some go to seed, then "return the seeds" back to the library!

Went out and distributed food to our neighbors at the food pantry tonight.
We had enough left over afterwards to stock up the community pantry & free fridge.
We ran out of room. So I took boxes of fresh turnips and boxes of cereal home for storage. I'll push them out to the community fridge and pantry this week as there is room.
We have the literal ability to feed everyone for free. And we can. And we are.

My posts are now outdated hamishcampbell.com/?s=solar+la… the issue you need is a panel with a "real USB-C PD" rather than just normal USB with a C socket and no PD, then you need to find a battery bank with "power pass-through" and 2 USB-C PD sockets - this is the hard part. And yes you can do it with normal 2amp 5v USB, but his will be battery assist more than power. It will work'ish but lead to premature battery wear all round.

In the #UK it's not always sunny enough for one of these to be useful, but I've hooked mine up to a #DIY #battery pack—made of #recycled #liions—and while it's basically useless on a cloudy or rainy day, it actually provides a meaningful amount of power on a sunny day.

For those wondering about the second part of the username, agorism is a left-wing, anticapitalist form of market anarchism similar in style to mutualism that focuses more heavily on using the counter-economy (any voluntary activity the state does not approve of) to demolish the state. Both black/gray markets and mutual aid are part of this.
So while you'll find the regular solarpunk stuff from my blog, you'll also occasionally see me suggesting things like a fully decentralized hydro-powered mutual crypto-credit system.
Though I'm well aware my views are odd compared to the average solarpunk, I'm happy to vibe with a crew of a similar mind! Thanks for having me!
