Thank you, BBC, for a story that’s a delight to read:
A man is walking 53 miles (85km) in a homemade bird costume to raise awareness and funds for conservation projects.
Mr Trevelyan said: "Those who know me well know I was eventually going to build a giant curlew.”

For #reptiles, #amphibians, & #mammals there are about 10x as many unobserved... Like birds, most unobserved species only remain in tropical regions. "Winter Song" is my new #painting about those bright winter days of lemon and pink skies, when the air is clear and cold, and the #birdsong rings louder than ever.
As well as the little robin belting out his sweet song, I've included other winter birds: fieldfare, waxwing, redwing, and (my favourites) starlings.
Thanks for looking. 🙏

Today we drove to Bellevue, MI to witness the annual fall migration of thousands of Sandhill Cranes. Turn on your sound to listen to their calls, which can be heard up to 2.5 miles away.
These magnificent #birds nearly disappeared a century ago due to overhunting, but populations rebounded & are now stable in MI.
Sandhill Cranes are among the oldest living birds on Earth with a wingspan of up to 6 ft. Aldo Leopold described them as "nobility, won in the march of eons."
