My book, Accessibility For Everyone, is now free and online as a website.

accessibilityforeveryone.site

The book was first published by A Book Apart in 2017 but it holds up! It covers web accessibility for designers, developers, content folks, and really everyone who works in tech.

UK lawsuit against Valve given the go-ahead, Steam owner facing up to £656 million in damages gamingonlinux.com/2026/01/uk-l…

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I can't help but think, if you dont like it, dont use it to distribute your games. This has nothing to so with consumers, we choose valve because they give us better support than the competition.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Valve being a consumer darling and pushing hard against Microsoft's PC gaming monopoly doesn't mean they can't do wrong.

I don't know enough to have an opinion in this case, but I hope it will be ruled in favor of the law.

AI pull requests are making people feel crazy.

Summary: An AI bot called "Claude" posts "pull requests" (suggestions to fix and improve open source projects) on GitHub. Users are also submitting AI generated pulls and it's wasting the time of the people who need to check and approve or reject these "improvements."

In the world of GitHub doing 'pull requests' gives devs a bit of status, but AI has upended this system and destroyed trust and annoyed many people.

Most striking in this video was the plea that people "get to know the project and the people" --

Open issues, known bugs, feature requests... it's like some people think that you could just run AI and close them all and the development would be done. But software development is a conversation: something people do together, code is just the medium.

It's like saying "I have solved birthdays since birthday bot will give everyone a cupcake and card automatically."

No you ruined birthdays.

@NickBoss Soon we hope! They had mentioned that they were working on it.
in reply to It's FOSS

the only unfortunate bit is that lately it seems to be more prone to hallucination, refuses to tell me it’s underlying model, saying “I am a multipurpose”, and while I find the zero-access encrypted personalization very cool and started using it, it makes me wonder if it’s making the hallucination worse, especially with the preset behaviors I gave it. I will try without telling it how to behave I guess and see. it’s a shame as I use it for motivation for fitness without giving… (1/3)

People Are Saying TikTok’s New Terms And Conditions Are Terrifying — Here’s What You Agreed To Share

"The alarm is a fair reaction," one privacy lawyer said.

"But one of the other most startling lines within the new TikTok terms and conditions is about what TikTok states it can learn about our lives. TikTok states it will collect sensitive user-generated information that your posts and comments might provide. This 'may include...information you disclose in survey responses or in your user content about your racial or ethnic origin, national origin, religious beliefs, mental or physical health diagnosis, sexual life or sexual orientation, status as transgender or nonbinary, citizenship or immigration status, or financial information,' according to the privacy policy."

in reply to Muse

"new"? or "newly exposed" for what was happening anyway?
in reply to Muse

the US 'subscribers' of TikTok have been bought by entities favorable to the US regime. New terms of service and new filtering of words deems critical of the regime.

OpenAI’s president is a Trump mega-donor / Greg Brockman said he started “getting involved politically” in 2025.

OpenAI’s co-founder and longtime president, Greg Brockman, didn’t just make a run-of-the-mill donation to the main pro-Trump super PAC — together, he and his wife Anna’s September 2025 donations equaled the largest of them all, totaling $25 million to “MAGA Inc.,” per a recent filing. The Brockmans’ donations made up nearly one-fourth of the six-month fundraising cycle.
It’s the latest in a string of examples of tech executives cozying up to President Trump’s administration, happening as the administration pushes to aggressively back the AI industry and defang state-level regulations that companies like OpenAI have largely opposed. OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment...

It kinda just was there, and since being good at computers was my only personality trait(not much changed) back in middle school, I just tried it. Obviously it didn't went well, because that was back in 2017-ish, one year give or take, and I liked playing games. But I vibed with it, so I dual booted until somewhere in 2021-2022, when I already felt like support was good enough, I wiped windows from the hard drive from my old laptop.

In the headline you wrote runs Linux, but in the article you said launches #Debian, meaning inside some kind of Android app container? Isn't that already possible with @termux?

#Nexphone does not run #Linux much different than a Windows PC runs WSL or #Linux in a VM.

The people of Minnesota/Minneapolis can be so proud of themselves. They display true American values, unlike the Trump administration.

Isn't just wonderful that clothes come with their sources? If you slice the different parts off with a seamripper, lay them all down, trace them on new fabric, cut them out, and stitch them back together, you can effectively clone and fork garments. I realize that this is probably real obvious to most people, but it only dawned on me recently.

So, that’s what I’ve been up to, most nights my laptop is stowed away to make room for the sewing machine on the nav table. It all began when the store that made the patrol cap that Rek and I wear stopped carrying it. The seams of the old worn-out cap were cut, new 14oz canvas was bought and the cap was cloned, twice! I enjoyed the process so much, I made a new messenger backpack, fixed ripped panels on my winter jacket, sown tartan wool arm warmers and some other things. At one point, I realized that I was wearing six items of clothing I had made or mended.

this little Post Came up in my timeline and as someone who loves sewing and works in clothing industrie, it made me incredibly happy to read this.
I have some old clothes i loved but are unfixable stowed away for exact the reason of remaking them in different fabrics 😁
in reply to TwinFaces

@TwinFaces That's such a good habit, I need to do the same, I started realizing that I've given away or trashed garments with cuts that fitted me better than what I wear now, I could have kept as patterns instead of throwing them away! :bloat:

This is frustrating because the unnamed people advising that were wrong. It confuses trapping page focus in a modal to blocking users from using the rest of their browser. Also, ugh APG.
