I have to admit that I don't see farm owners as farmers. I have been aware of how many farms have been taken over for industrial farming, and how small farmers have been left to struggle. I think of farm workers as farmers. Sometimes they both work the land or care for the animals on it, as well as owning land and assets. But if they are just bean counters and managers, I find I don't think of them as farmers.

Taber has some good insights about why farmers voted for our current head of state.

Meritocracy based on school is a bad idea. It only lifts people who do well at school. I live with a prime example. Fred didn't enjoy school and didn't get great grades yet, once he found a job after earning a 2 year tech diploma, he was a dedicated, ethical, employee and developed chemistry that continues to be a best seller for the company. They hire engineers for that position now🤷‍♀️
in reply to Muse

Meritocracy is what causes some parents to hire tutors for their kids, Mom and dad then they endlessly pressurise those kids to get good grades and do all sorts of extra-curricular activities. They are barely children, more like slaves to a parent's ego. I remember the girl in the grade before me, who was also in the honors program, and committed suicide from the pressure.

When I was teaching digital literacy to school teachers, we discussed the digital divide. Some kids couldn't get good grades simply because they couldn't afford the computers to keep up. Where is the meritocracy in that?

Another candidate is Google AI Edge Gallery with different models, chat, ask questions with images and audio clip, explore prompts, and more.

The installation of the latest APK from GitHub was easy, but after everything I found was very complicated and not privacy friendly. You have to register and assign the device to the models to #huggingface, to #Google .... I don't know if anybody else has experience with that.

Thanks for your article. It made me browse the F-Droid store for some AI stuff. Still not using it but interested in it. Voice recognition/transcription could be handy.

After a round of testing and tweaks, a new version of #Vernissage has been deployed to vernissage.photos! 🎉

This update adds a new feature for authors and moderators: the ability to view ActivityPub events. Now you can easily check where a specific event, like creating, updating, or liking a post, was sent. If everything works smoothly, the official release will go live before the weekend, and we’ll move on to the next exciting items in the queue. 🚀

in reply to Vernissage

This is very useful, but won't the amount of data get a bit out hand over time?
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron It really depends on the size of the instance 😉. The data growth is definitely something worth keeping an eye on. In the future, it might be possible to clean up older entries if needed. For now, though, this is very helpful for me to track potential issues and to provide explanations for why something didn’t show up as expected.

I really, *really* hate film rebranding/repackaging. It's just an utter scam.

@Gargron my favourite is when you see people (mostly bloggers, it must be said) praising one film while trashing another, seemingly completely oblivious that it's the exact same film stock with different branding.
