Terrain3D is an incredible add-on for Godot 4. Thank you @TokisanGames !

This is part of R&D for Liblast and Liblast Framework.
Based on CGI data from #NASA, that was interpreted frivolously to an 8x8 km area and then sclupted over to add detail that was missing from the original textures.

I use git for version control, however in Schifahren every time I run the game all the sources are combined into a single 1MB lua file. I meticulously backup these files, and have 9GB of them. Sometimes I bisect them to see why something stopped working.

With #FediJam nearing its deadline, I've been working on customization and accessibility options for my game. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, it's a game jam, and this is one area of many where jam games typically cut quality corners to save dev time. But accessibility has kinda become part of my personal brand, so I don't want to skimp here.

It's a dexterity game, which won't appeal to everyone. But the goal is that anyone can at least try it.

I started this project as a "let's learn Godot" project while I was jobsearching, and as it became more and more obvious that the market was in way too weird a position for someone like to me to find something easily (definitely not junior, but an eclectic enough background that I think people don't know what to make of me sometimes), I began to explore.

I had this idea for a bullet-hell but if you touched enemies it turned in to a turn-based RPG battle, and I explored it as best I could.

But I think what I've found was, I've long since passed the scale of complexity with this idea that I could finish as a solo dev.

I think there's a ton of potential here, but I'm feeling stuck. I think in order to move forward and ship -something- (an increasingly common application requirement) I need to cut the innovative stuff and just put out a fun little minimalist roguelike bullethell and call it a day.

fedi gamedevs, any thoughts about this? I've been too deep in the weeds for too long.


This is pretty neat! Steam making demo releases behave essentially like F2P releases doesn't really erode space indies were leveraging. In fact it shoulders in on a space currently dominated by uhhhh mostly garbage.

Going to start doing some daily Godot tips, both to force me to look for cool things the editor does so I can use it myself and to help out anyone else. Also will be posting them on programming.dev/c/godot
First up for day 1: You can hold ctrl and drag a node from the scene into a script to automatically create an onready variable for that node
