“Is Firefox on the right path? Maybe.”

Really don't think so! #Mozilla rather cares about the #AITrend more than its users.

Ah, and also, killing good #software for the sake of this #trend. And when you think that it's little probable for it to succeed in it, when there are much bigger players on the table! 🙁

Following on from that, NIST guidelines recommend:

❌ DON'T enforce complexity (upper, lower, numbers, special chars)
✅ Instead, DO require 8 chars minimum, and up to 64 at least
✅ Also, allow _any_ characters (space, apostrophe, etc.)
❌ DON'T force users to change passwords regularly; then they just add incrementing numbers at the end and it doesn't help security
✅ But DO block passwords/patterns (qwerty, asdfasdf, etc.)

🚨 Tor Browser opsec discovery: The security level slider cannot be relied upon without a full browser restart: privacyguides.org/articles/202…

If you frequently switch between security levels in Tor Browser (or Mullvad Browser!), make sure you are fully restarting the browser every time, otherwise you could still unexpectedly have dangerous JS features enabled!

This requirement is not publicly documented anywhere. Hopefully @torproject will add a prompt to restart after modifying this setting in a future Tor Browser release.

Which reminds me. I occasionally shop at #Ocado and have never had a problem with the process... except the other day I could no longer get the 'login' button to 'stay depressed'. After spotting some 'interesting' traffic I tried (temporarily) relaxing my firewall rules wrt certain g00gle domains and, et voila, all was 'normal'.

While all software has security issues, the irresponsible behavior of Microsoft shows why anti-trust action is needed to reduce the stranglehold the big tech firms have over the cloud computing market. Without external pressure, companies tend to hide rather than fix problems. arstechnica.com/security/2023/… #security #bigtech #oversight

BEWARE of a most likely MALICIOUS Liblast "fork":

codeberg.org/pigeon54353/Libre…

This person has faked "evidence" to support a ridiculous claim about Liblast (which is verifiably false).

The person has also created fake issue tickets and tried to pull developer's attention to a supposed vulnerability (which makes no sense either and had no substance provided).

Don't let this person deceive you. We don't know what their agenda is yet, but they are certainly malicious.

#Bluesky continues to be entirely non-responsive to the numerous security vulnerabilities I've reported to them, so I spent the evening writing up a nice README and a framework with exploit modules, and just made it all public.

Have fun.

I've always questioned how much more secure this is than emailing files, for outbound documents. It limits the opportunity window of an attacker when the first document is sent, rather than the file sitting on various mail servers. But if an attacker can intercept the email, then that attacker can sign in to Nextcloud and access the file. Ideally, you would do some sort of identity proofing or non-email communication of initial credentials before exchanging files.
