The image depicts a narrow alleyway with a warm, orange hue, due to a non-standard film processing. The alley is flanked by buildings on both sides, with closed storefronts and metal shutters. The ground is paved with light-colored tiles, and there are a few visible signs, mostly in English despite the photo was taken in Japan. The scene has a quiet, deserted atmosphere, with no people or vehicles in sight. The perspective leads the viewer's eye down the alley, creating a sense of depth.

The two parts are separated by a row of five non-descript posts supporting a single rope. Snow caps the tops of the posts. A puddle seeps out from the uneven edge of the snow. On its mirror-like surfaces is the clear reflection of the upper branches of a row of trees.
